Origin of the Malaysian Lecturers Association
In an international instructor training course in 1996, Malaysian students delivered outstanding performances during their internship speeches. They not only met the standards of a general lecturer but also spoke with power, expressed emotions freely, and effectively engaged their audience. With such capabilities, they were on par with overseas professional lecturers.
Recognizing the absence of an institution that could provide a platform for local lecturers to organize, study, learn, and support each other in pursuit of greater achievements in the field, Lecturer "Frankie Sim Jin Peng"
first proposed the idea of establishing a lecturers' association. The proposal was met with unanimous recognition and support from the Malaysian lecturers present, leading to the formation of a preparatory committee.
The preparatory work spanned three years and encountered numerous challenges, including the economic crisis of 1997. However, despite these obstacles, the commitment and perseverance of the founding members remained unwavering. Guided by the slogan "Do it to the best", they were inspired to elevate Malaysian lecturers to an internationally recognized professional level.
Finally, on March 12, 1999, with approval from the Registrar of Societies (ROS), the first and only "Malaysian Lecturers Association" was officially established in Malaysia. At the same time, Lecturer "Frankie Sim Jin Peng "
became the founding president of the association, marking a significant milestone in the professional development of lecturers in the country.
